NETTLE.
Nettle is a natural cellulose bast fiber.
It has been used for textiles for centuries and recently had a comeback because it doesn’t require any pesticides, fertilizers or irrigation compared to cotton, for example. Nettle is an undemanding plant that grows almost everywhere.
Nettle is still not used frequently since its processing is not yet optimized which is, unfortunately, the case for most bast fibers. Regrettably, nettle hasn’t been utilized to its full potential yet, although the fiber is very promising.
In addition to its other prosperous features, it biodegrades easily and decomposes in a short time – all depending on its chemical treatment, of course.
