TOOLBOX / FIBERS / RECYCLEATHER

recyc leather.

Recyc leather is a manufactured, natural polymer, protein fiber established in 2016. Recyc leather is sourced from waste material comprised of 60% cowhide, a 30% blend of natural latex and resin and 10% water based polyurethane coating. The animal leather waste is mainly derived from gardening glove off-cuts and pre-production waste and the synthetic components consist of natural, synthetic rubber from rubber trees and a water based polyurethane coating.

Recyc leather was awarded the Recycled 100 Claim Standard which guarantees a minimum of 95% recycled material.

Recyc leather uses a closed loop recycling system that consumes 90% less water than a traditional leather tannery.

Unfortunately the product is a mix of natural and technical components, hindering cradle2cradle recycling processes
