faborg.
Faborg is a brand, making fabric from Calotropis, a natural, cellulose, seed and bast fiber, also known as “vegan wool”. The fibers are obtained from a combination of the stem fibers and the pod hairs of the Calotropis plant. The hollowness of the fiber generated its wool-like characteristics.
Calotropis grows wildly on deserted bodies of land, with no facilitation of water, care or pesticides. The production is mostly done by hand and support the empowerment of women in rural areas where jobs are rarely secure.
The byproduct of fiber extraction can be used as a natural fertilizer. Processing Faborg is zero waste, revives biodiversity and fights poverty in rural areas of India. Because these fibers grow wildly, no certificates are available. Faborg fabrics consist of a blend of Calotropis fibers with organic cotton for better stability.
Weganool is compostable. Faborg, as part of their philosophy, only uses natural dyes, so no chemical dyes are included in the processing of Weganool.
